Perhaps the most powerful and under-appreciated aspect of genealogy is its ability to bring people together - across time, distance and other barriers. And our ancestors want to be found as much as we want to find them! These are the conclusions I reached when researching over 5,000 stories for the PBS Ancestors series and the four books I've written since then.

This site is my attempt to encourage others - from novice to pro - in their quest for roots. Here you'll find grants for genealogical initiatives, guidance for your search, and opportunities to submit your own stories for possible use in future articles, books and television shows!

It is my hope that this site will help at least a few more people connect - be it with scattered kin, family treasures or long-departed ancestors.
