Share Your Story - DNA Stories

Are you into genetealogy (genetic genealogy)? Do you think that DNA testing might be able to resolve some family history mystery once and for all? For instance, could you learn if you're really related to that famous person, if only you could find the right person to test to represent him or her? Do you think that maybe some testing could prove or disprove an old family tale about how your surname was changed? Did you grow up with whispered tales about who grandpa's real father was? Or do you have a DNA success story you'd like to share - an example of how you used DNA testing to crack some brick wall in your research?

If so, please use this form to tell me about it. Due to volume, I can't tackle all cases, but just because you don't hear from me immediately doesn't mean I'm not on the case. I tend not to contact submitters unless I need clarification or until I'm fairly optimistic about making some headway.

How did you find this site?
I'd really appreciate it if you'd take a moment to tell me which search engine, other web site, newspaper article, etc. led you here:

Please tell me about your DNA scenario. The more details you can share, the better.

Please describe your efforts to date to tackle this situation, such as any DNA testing you've already done. Please include the name of any testing companies involved and whether the results can be found in Ybase.org, Ysearch.org, smgf.org, etc. If you already have some results, please share them here.

OK, now please tell me anything else you know that might help. If particular people are involved, this would be the time to share their name, as well as dates and places associated with them (e.g., birth, death, marriage, immigration, etc.). Sometimes the tiniest of clues can help! (If you're sharing a success story, you can skip this question)

If you have any images you'd like to include (say, a scanned image of some Y-DNA results), please use these fields to attach up to 3 images. If you have more, please send them by email and reference this DNA Story submission.
